About Eid al-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr is the festival that ends Ramadan, the month of fasting. The day begins with a special morning prayer, followed by visits to family, new clothes, sweets and gifts of money for children (Eidi).
Eid al-Fitr is set by the Islamic lunar calendar, so it comes about 11 days earlier each year. In 2027 it lands on a Wednesday, in week 10 of the year. Expected date in Pakistan. Pakistan usually marks Islamic dates one day after Saudi Arabia, and the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirms the final date after the moon is sighted.
