This is the scale in the Higher Education Commission’s semester system guidelines. Many universities use it as is; some use slightly different cut-offs or points (for example 3.7 for A-). If yours does, type the grade points in the grade box instead, such as 3.7.
How GPA and CGPA are calculated
GPA = sum of (credit hours × grade points) ÷ total credit hours for the semester. A 3-credit A- (3.66) adds 10.98 quality points; a 4-credit B+ (3.33) adds 13.32.
CGPA works the same way across every semester: total quality points from all courses ÷ total credit hours. To add this semester to an existing CGPA, multiply your old CGPA by the credit hours it covers, add this semester’s quality points, and divide by the new total of credit hours. The calculator does this when you fill in the previous semesters.
Under the HEC guidelines the minimum CGPA to complete a BS degree is 2.0, and 2.5 for MS/MPhil. Check your university’s own rules for probation, repeats and improvement of grades.

What GPA is 80% marks?
On the HEC scale, 80 to 84% is an A- worth 3.66 grade points, and 85% or more is an A worth 4.00.
How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
There is no single official formula; each university states its own on the transcript or in its rules. If your university doesn’t give one, ask its examination department rather than using a general online formula.
Does a failed course count in CGPA?
Usually yes: an F counts as 0 grade points until you repeat the course. Universities differ on whether the new grade replaces the old one, so check your rules.
Can I use marks instead of grades?
Yes. Type the marks percentage (for example 78) in the grade box and the calculator converts it with the HEC scale.
