How to work out a percentage
X% of Y: multiply Y by X and divide by 100. 15% of 2,500 is 2,500 × 15 ÷ 100 = 375.
Marks percentage: divide the marks you got by the total marks and multiply by 100. 850 out of 1,100 is 850 ÷ 1,100 × 100 = 77.27%.
Percentage change: subtract the old number from the new one, divide by the old number and multiply by 100. From 1,200 to 1,500 is a 25% increase.
Discount: 20% off 4,999 means you pay 80% of it: 4,999 × 0.8 = 3,999.20.

How do I calculate a discount?
