About Diwali
Diwali, the festival of lights, is one of the biggest festivals for Hindus, Sikhs and Jains. People light diyas and lamps, set off fireworks, share sweets with family and friends, and pray to Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth.
Diwali is set by the Hindu lunar calendar and falls in October or November. In 2026 it lands on a Sunday, so it falls on a weekend, in week 45 of the year. Expected date based on the Hindu lunar calendar. Some regions celebrate a day earlier or later.
How long until Diwali?
Counting from today, Sunday, October 4, 2026, there are 35 days until Diwali 2026. That works out to 5 weeks, or about 1 month and 4 days.
