Pakistan Public Holidays 2027: Full List with Dates

Pakistan will have about 16 public holidays in 2027 if the Islamic festivals get their usual number of days. The year opens with Kashmir Solidarity Day on Friday, February 5, 2027 and closes with Quaid-e-Azam Day, which is also Christmas, on Saturday, December 25, 2027. The dates of Eid, Ashura and Eid Milad-un-Nabi below are expected dates and can shift by a day with the moon.

The official list is notified by the Cabinet Division of the federal government, usually near the end of the previous year. Provinces sometimes add local holidays, and the government can announce extra days off at short notice, so treat this page as a planning guide and check the notification before you book anything that can’t move.

Fixed-date holidays

Seven holidays follow the Gregorian calendar and fall on the same date every year:

  • 5 February, Kashmir Solidarity Day, a day of support for the people of Kashmir.
  • 23 March, Pakistan Day, marking the Lahore Resolution of 1940 and the first constitution of 1956.
  • 1 May, Labour Day, the international workers’ day.
  • 28 May, Youm-e-Takbeer, the anniversary of the 1998 nuclear tests. It has been a public holiday in recent years; check the notification.
  • 14 August, Independence Day. In 2027 it is the 80th anniversary of independence.
  • 9 November, Iqbal Day, the birthday of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. It has been a public holiday in recent years; check the notification.
  • 25 December, Quaid-e-Azam Day, the birthday of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, which is also Christmas Day.

Islamic holidays and the moon

Eid ul Fitr, Eid ul Adha, 9th and 10th Muharram and Eid Milad-un-Nabi follow the Hijri calendar, which is about 11 days shorter than the solar year. That is why these holidays come earlier every year. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announces the start of each month after looking for the new moon, and the federal government then confirms the days off.

For both Eids, Pakistan has usually given three days off, sometimes more when the holiday sits next to a weekend. The number is announced each year, so the second and third days in the table are marked as expected. You can read more in how moon sighting decides Eid in Pakistan.

One detail worth spotting in 2027: Eid Milad-un-Nabi is expected on August 15, right next to Independence Day on August 14. If the moon goes the other way it could even fall on the same day.

Optional holidays

Besides the general list, the notification has usually included optional holidays for religious minorities, such as Easter, Holi and Diwali for Christian and Hindu employees, and some days for Shia and other communities. These apply only to members of those communities and are not days off for everyone.

Planning around the 2027 holidays

If you are planning leave, look at the clusters. Eid ul Fitr in March and Eid ul Adha in May are the two longest breaks, and both are popular times for family travel, so tickets go fast. Mid-August combines Independence Day with an expected Eid Milad-un-Nabi holiday.

You can see all of these on a printable calendar, count down to any of them on the Pakistan holidays page, or browse the 2027 holidays page for international dates too.
