How it works
The calculator tries every way of placing the items, in every orientation, and keeps the box with the least volume. Padding is added on all sides, then the board thickness for the outside size.
The packed weight includes a 3-ply box at about 540 g/m². Billable weight is the higher of packed and dimensional weight, rounded up to 0.5 kg.

How do I choose the right shipping box?
Pick the smallest box that leaves room for padding on all sides. A box that is too big costs more to ship and lets the item move.
How much padding do fragile items need?
About 5 cm (2 in) on every side, with the item not touching the box walls.
