How it works
A roll's material length = π × (outside diameter² − core diameter²) ÷ (4 × thickness). Divide by the label length plus the gap to get the number of labels. The core's own wall (about 3 mm) is added to the core size.
Paper labels on liner are usually 120 to 170 microns thick; film labels a little less. Ask your printer for the exact figure.

What core size does my printer use?
Desktop label printers mostly use 25 mm (1 in) cores. Industrial printers and label applicators use 76 mm (3 in).
What is the maximum roll size for a desktop printer?
Many desktop thermal printers take rolls up to about 127 mm (5 in) across.
