How it works
Combined grammage = all liner papers + each fluting paper × its take-up factor. Fluting is waved, so a metre of board uses more than a metre of fluting paper: about 1.54 for A flute, 1.43 for C, 1.32 for B, 1.27 for E and 1.19 for F.
Thickness adds the flute heights: A 4.8 mm, C 3.8 mm, B 2.8 mm, E 1.5 mm and F 0.9 mm. Real values vary a little between machines and papers.
Frequently asked questions
What are the flute sizes?
From thickest to thinnest: A (about 4.8 mm), C (3.8 mm), B (2.8 mm), E (1.5 mm) and F (0.9 mm).
What is a take-up factor?
The length of fluting paper used per metre of board. It is higher for taller flutes.
